On 9 April 2018, MMC Pembetungan Langat Sdn Bhd (MMC PLSB), organised a launching ceremony of the ‘Public Information Centre of Langat Sewerage Project’ at its site office, Kampung Sungai Balak, Kajang.

Dato’ Seri Ir Dr Zaini Ujang, Secretary General of Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA), officiated the event with a special signing ceremony on the Granite Stone featuring the overall layout of the Centralised Sewage Treatment Plant (CSTP) project.

The event was also attended by Dato’ Sri Ir Dr Zullkefle, Director General of Sewerage Services Department (JPP), Datuk Dr Tan Yew Chong, Deputy Secretary General of KeTTHA, senior management team of KeTTHA and JPP and local authorities.  Also present during the event were Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, Group Managing Director of MMC Corporation Berhad together with several senior management team of MMC.

The project was designed using the technology know how from Japan, will benefit the population from Cheras to Kajang in sustaining the environment. The operations which include sustaining green technology such as rain water harvesting, reuse of bio-effluent, usage of biogas and solar panel to generate electricity and support the plant operations.  Part of the effluent will be recycled to accommodate the usage of clean water for cleaning at the plant.  This will be a great cost saving in operations.

CSTP project targets to open for the public after project completion in April 2021, comes with a recreational park consisting sports and community centre for the community of Kg Sungai Balak and its nearby surrounding.

The public information centre is now open for public viewing, corporate and group visit from 8.30am to 5.30pm during weekdays and Saturday from 8.00am to 12pm upon appointment.
