LANGAT SEWERAGE PROJECT MARKS LONGEST CURVATURE JACKING IN MALAYSIA IN THE MALAYSIA BOOK OF RECORDS

28 Dec 2018

28 December 2018 marked Langat Sewerage Project of the longest microtunneling DN 1800 curvature sewerage pipeline jacking in Malaysia in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).

The soft launch was officiated by the Director General of Sewerage Services Department (JPP). Also presented to witness the momentous occasion were the senior management of JPP, MMC Engineering Sdn Bhd, Consultants and Sub-contractors. The 95km gravity sewers alignment are constructed by using pipe jacking method for the pipe range of 225mm to 2100mm diameter and depths varies from of 3m to 25m.

With estimation construction period 3 months, this curve drive is so far the longest curvature jacking record in Malaysia with 725m long for 1800mm diameter curved drive from Jalan Dutamas 1, crossing the SILK Highway to Jalan CJ5, Cheras Jaya for the pipe depth range of 10m up to 19m deep.

This is the most feasible solutions to minimize obstacles such as intersections, narrow winding roads, heavy traffic condition, existing underground structures or utilities and to avoid the encroachment inside private lots. By minimizing the possibilities of the obstacles directly expedite the construction activities especially in the heavily populated areas.

MMC PLSB as the main contractor has put the trust to ICOP Construction (M) Sdn Bhd, the tunnelling specialist, in making this tremendous effort a success as well as for this project to be recognised in the Malaysia Book of Records.
